What's Not In Our Products
We are often asked about how our formula came about and eventually people always ask why doesn't Draw It Out have "XYZ Ingredient". Below is some of the most common of these questions and our reasons. Just remember just because something is natural doesn't mean it is safe.
Menthol can provide a localized cooling effect bit the dangers of burning and blistering the animal are greatly enhanced when a product contains this ingredient. No product containing menthol, regardless of their claims, can be 100% safely used under pads, boots or wraps. Menthol is also regulated by the FEI which made it an absolutely not for us.
This ingredient can help localized pain by defunctionalizing nerves in the applied area but its heating capabilities make it a very dangerous product for booting. It is also banned from both USEF and FEI competitions. Just because it's natural doesn't mean its safe.
Alcohol can be a great item to quickly cool a horse but its topical application can lead to burning or blistering and can dry the hair coat out. It also is dangerous if ingested.
Witch hazel is a great natural base in lieu of alcohol. Why did we omit it? Witch hazes is often diluted with up to 17% alcohol so finding it in its purest form can be a challenge. Witch hazel also has a drying effect which is great for irritations but too much for too long can lead to dry flaky skin, even in horses. Witch hazel is also not safe to be ingested. Our products are safe if your horse licks or if you accidentally get some on you. If we included witch hazel this benefit would be negated. Another huge reason we omitted is the presence of safrole in witch haze which is a carcinogen.
Hard to Pronounce Ingredients
Ever turn a bottle over and read the ingredients? Wish you had a dictionary? It's hard to trust what you cant pronounce. We did our absolute best to minimize these words, and the ones we did use are derived from naturally occurring sources.
All in all there are tons of great ingredients we left out of our products for various reasons. They are all omitted with your horse's health in mind. Though ingredients may be natural they may not be safe for you or your horse. We aim to be both SAFE & NATURAL, not just one or the other. Our products are designed to do just that. Provide you and your horse with the safest pain relief formulas available.
