All equine disciplines can benefit from the care and expertise at CFE. Amber Jones, BFA, MBA is the head equine therapist and office manager, with over 30 years of experience in the equine industry. Amber’s interest in horses start back when she was very young, after her dad entered her in a lead line class at three years old. She followed her father’s footsteps in the cutting horse world which later led her to try other disciplines. After years of showing cutting horses and reining horses, Amber had more desire for speed. Quickly her main focus turned to barrel racing. Barrel racing and rodeo has become every part of her life. Her husband, two children and grandchildren all compete and love the sport. At CFE Amber is accompanied by her daughter Kassidy Lovell, BS, who is a certified veterinary assistant and barn manager with over 15 years of experience. Kassidy herself has made a name for her in the Barrel Racing world. She too started early in her career at the age of four., where she was entered to her first unassisted barrel race. Amber said Kassidy was hooked on horses before she even sat on one, it was like it was in her blood. Kassidy has many championships under her belt. She was the youngest AQHA World Champion in the Pole Bending at the age of 10. She won many All Around titles that helped her accumulate horse trailers, saddles, and buckles. Kassidy’s number one ride received an injury, which is having her take a break from the rodeo circuit, but she continues to train horses when she can and travels with her PRCA husband Colby Lovell, if she has time to get away from the barn. Amber and Kassidy have a phenomenal team of horse savvy individuals to help care for the horses at CFE. Their team includes Shauni Prihoda, BS, MA, in Animal Science, from SHSU. Jeanna Boullion, BS, Animal Science from SHSU. Both Amber and Kassidy have something special that lights up their eyes when they talk about the importance of developing a relationship with horses. They beam in conversation about the personality and story that is unique to each animal, and the special care and attention that must be given to each horse to make the most of their time at ChampionFit Equine.
Every horse at CFE has a different goal to reach and the type of care (rehab or conditioning) they receive is specific to that purpose. This entire team pays great attention to detail in order to provide a trustworthy and safe environment for every horse. ChampionFit Equine strives organization and preparedness. Horses that are in house for rehabilitation follow specific instructions from their veterinary. CFE work hand and hand with the vet to assure the rehabilitation process is going as planned or if any concerns lead to a different health plan. No lameness is the same. Every horse heals and manages pain differently, so the rehabilitation process has to be specifically designed for that horse and his needs. The horses in barn for conditioning are also specifically planned regiments. This is why is it very important they stay on top of having the most effective equipment and products. CFE uses the DIO (Draw It Out) to prevent soreness after a horse is worked out on the AquaPacer, swimming or a massage, also a perfect solution to help heal injuries. They use both the concentrated and gel forms. Just a few applications they have used DiO, tighten legs, spray it on backs, shoulder, and limber. They like the fact it will not blister, no damaging efforts, colorless and odorless.
